Bovis, Gilbane, and Faith Technologies announce new leaders at business units

Bovis Lend Lease has added Elaine Lockwood Bean as vice president / business unit leader of Bovis’ Chicago office. She is responsible for program management, public sector and institutional work. In more than 20 years of construction industry experience, Bean has served as project architect, project manager, associate vice president for facilities and senior vice president for a number of organizations in Chicago and in Paris, France. She has experience at the city and state level and recently helped implement the The University of Chicago’s capital construction program.
Laticrete International Inc. , manufacturer of tile and stone installation systems, has hired master tile setter Jeff Kimmerling as contractor sales representative for Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota. Formerly a project manager for Lakeside Stoneworks near Milwaukee, Kimmerling will focus on building the Laticrete MVP (Most Valued Partner) program. Kimmerling reports to Walt Stivers, regional sales manager for the Indiana Territory.
Spider, a division of SafeWorks, LLC, provider of access and safety solutions, recently hired Doug McCormick as District Sales Representative for its Chicago location. In this position, Doug is responsible for solving suspended access and safety challenges for contractors and facility owners in northern Illinois, eastern Iowa, and all but the western region of Wisconsin. McCormick’s extensive experience in swing stage work includes 15 years as general manager of Designed Equipment, serving as vice president of sales for Midwest Access ,and most recently managing sales and operations at Sky Climber Chicago LLC.
Anthony R. Goodings has been appointed to the newly created position of director of sales for The Wagner Companies, Milwaukee. A resident of Waukesha, Wis., Goodings has 22 years of sales and account-management experience, including work with Herman Miller Inc., McGraw-Hill Construction, Johnson Controls, and Olon Industries. The Wagner Companies manufactures handrail fittings and metal products for architectural and industrial applications.
PROMOTIONS
Christine Rahlf has been promoted to manager of Faith Technologies’ Sheboygan, Wis., location, which employs more than 75 people. Rahlf has been with Faith Technologies since 2004, and had worked as a project manager in Appleton and Milwaukee, prior to her promotion. In 2007, Rahlf was the first Faith Technologies employee to become LEED accredited.
Gilbane Building Co. has named Adam Jelen district manager in Milwaukee. Jelen now manages Gilbane’s 30-person Milwaukee team and oversees Gilbane operations throughout all of Wisconsin. Jelen’s most recent position was project executive, in which he led several outstanding teams at Kerry America’s Kerry Center in Beloit, Wis,, the Medical College of Wisconsin/Children’s Research Institute transitional and Biomedical Research Center in Milwaukee. He is a 20-year veteran in the construction industry.
Wausau Window and Wall Systems , Wausau, Wis., has named three market managers with expertise in specific building applications: Lisa May specializes in healthcare projects, Steve Gille in education, and Tom Mifflin in governmental and military applications. Each of the three will continue to provide pre-bid design and technical support, and engineering services. In addition, each will share his or her expertise to help building owners, architects and contractors anticipate and respond to the performance challenges, regulatory requirements, aesthetic selections, and other considerations unique to specific building types.
IHC Construction Cos. LLC, Elgin, Ill., has promoted Brian Lemmon to project manager. Lemmon is a LEED accredited professional and has 10 years’ industry experience. He has been an employee of IHC Construction since 2005, most recently holding the position of project engineer.

Timothy J. Howald, president and CEO of Tweet/Garot Mechanical, Green Bay, Wis., has received the 2009 Meritorious Service Award from the Mechanical Contractors Association of Wisconsin (MCA). The award is given to industry leaders who have contributed their talents, effort and dedication for many years to help improve the mechanical-construction industry. Tweet/Garot provides mechanical contracting services including engineering, process piping, sheet-metal fabrication, industrial ventilation, boilermaker services, HVAC, plumbing and service work to manufacturers, healthcare facilities, the pulp & paper industry, the food & dairy industry, general contractors and construction managers. Howald has been with the company since 1977.
Eric J. Helminiak, structural engineer and associate at Durrant, Dubuque, Iowa, has earned his structural engineering license for the State of Illinois. He passed the national exam, written by the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES).
Clark Dietz, Inc. , is has announced that Lisa Zahrt and Emily Schneider have passed the professional engineer exam. Lisa is an electrical engineer in the Wausau, Wis., office and specializes in the design of lighting, power, and specialty systems for corporate, educational, and municipal facilities. Emily is a civil engineer in the Kenosha, Wis., office and specializes in the design of municipal infrastructure projects.
Hurckman Mechanical Industries, Inc. , Green Bay, Wis., announces that David Porter and Nick Coe have become LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED AP).
Baxter & Woodman, Inc. , consulting engineers, has announced that Steven G. Zehner and Jonathan D. Flowers have earned LEED accredited professional certification.
Zehner and Flowers will use their LEED knowledge to advise Baxter & Woodman clients how to “green up” communities, recommend green designs that will qualify for green funding, and guide buildings through the LEED certification process.
Zehner joined Baxter & Woodman in 1987 and serves as the firm’s Environmental Department Manager at the company’s Crystal Lake, Ill., headquarters. Flowers, an environmental engineer, joined the firm in 2005 and works from its Chicago office.
James Eyre of KAI Design & Build, St. Louis, recently the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Registration Exam to become a LEED Accredited Professional. Eyre began his career at KAI Design & Build two years ago.
Ashraf Hayek of KJWW Engineering Consultants, Rock Island, Ill., has passed the LEED accreditation exam to become a LEED-accredited professional.
Hoffman LLC employees Wendy Leeman, Dave Dickinson, Bill Aubrey, Pat Del Ponte and Kristi Lynch have all earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) accreditation from the United States Green Building Council. Leeman is a project manager with eight years’ industry experience. Dickinson is a project superintendent with 25 years of industry experience. Aubrey is a senior project manager with 26 years’ industry experience. Del Ponte is Hoffman’s director of planning services, and Lynch is one of the firm’s architects. Together, they have 45 years of industry experience.

Findorff & Son Inc. , Madison, Wis., marked its eighth year of working with Project Home’s “Hammer with a Heart” event in which volunteers and skilled workers help low-income neighbors in Dane County, Wis., with home repairs. This year, Findorffincreased its title sponsorship to also include being the food sponsor feeding more than 160 volunteers. In addition, fundraising events in Findorff’s office brought in $1,500 used toward supplies. Findorff is a large general contractor.
American Combustion Service Inc. (ACSI), Mokena, Ill., is celebrating 25 years in business by expanding into its new corporate headquarters. The company’s new 10,000-sq-ft facility has warehouse and office space to accommodate growth in its business of installing and repairing boilers, burners, ovens, furnaces, heating and air conditioning equipment. The company is green-mechanical certified and received the 2007-08 best safety record certificate from the Mechanical Contractors Association. Founded in 1984 by Frank M. Lacny. It serves clients in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana, with extended service as far away as New Jersey, Mexico and Alaska.
Principle Construction Corp., Bannockburn, Ill., is celebrating 10 years in business. Founders and owners Mark E. Augustyn and James A. Brucato lead the design/build general contractor, which serves Chicago, northwestern Indiana and southern Wisconsin. During its decade of existence, Principle has completed 6.5 million sq ft of design/build, office, manufacturing, distribution, food processing facilities, heath care facilities and interiors totaling more than $250 million.
Mechanical, Inc. , a mechanical contractor from Freeport, Ill., has purchased the commercial division of Norstar Mechanical of Rockford, Ill. Mechanical Inc. President Brian Helm says the acquisition expands the company’s line of services and allows it to offer customers in-house heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) expertise in addition to its traditional HVAC piping and service, process piping, plumbing, facility maintenance, engineering services, and industrial general trades work.
Mechanical, Inc. and Norstar perform the majority of their work in Chicagoland, Rockford, Ill., and southeastern Wisconsin. Mechanical Inc.’s annual revenue after the acquisition is expected to approach $200 million. The company has completed individual projects of up to $25 million in 23 states across the nation.
